On September 10, 2013 two candidates for County Legislature (District 21) will duke it out in a Republican Primary. John “Jack” Dawson is one of them.
Dawson is a modest man.
Look at his yard sign! He only gave himself two stars.
Five days before the primary, and he never bragged about himself. Not a word about his education, his curriculum vitae, his accomplishments.
He never has more than one reason at a time to run for Legislature. First, he wants to create jobs. Wait! He wants to clean the Rainbow Diner mess. Scrap that! Now he wants to change the Ulster County’s budget…
Not convinced about his modesty? Look at the bottom of his mugshot. See how softly he whispers “Do you know Jack?”
Despite his modesty, I could vote for John Dawson without thinking twice. Or once for that matter.

I don’t think John knows Jack about politics.
7:22 – 100% correct, the very reason he has my vote. I know Ulster County politics, nothing to be proud of I’m sorry to say. Modest is a good charatorization for Dawson, 100% opposite of our current Nancy Pelosi wanna be.
That’s the Spirit! Liberalism is a MENTAL DISORDER, you have just proven it! Based on your analogy, I hope the next time you, or a loved one need SURGERY, the only person available is a BLACKSMITH!
History has demonstrated that our best political leaders often are those with no previous political experience. Your analogy would suggest that we should always re-elect these incumbents. Wrong, term limits are needed for all political offices. Our elected leaders seem to think, they alone, are qualified to represent us. The expression “throw them all out” is a gut reaction to the re-election of these power hungry politions that have long forgotten why they originally ran. Btw most blacksmiths are very well educated and in a pinch, I would trust them with a knife.
