Ulster County Legislature Chairwoman Terry Bernardo lost the election. Her husband Len, Chairman of the Ulster County Independence Party had this to say:
- “Terry is obviously going to be hurt, but she ran a tough race and we were working against a lot of stuff. We had the Democrats and the Republicans working against us. But you have to respect both sides, us and them, and they ran a great race.”
Let me get this right… On one side we have the Democrats and the Republicans, on the other side Len and Terry Bernardo… and we must respect both sides?
Respect Bernardos? Yeah, right! They gave us plenty of reasons…

The list is matching so perfectly their expertise that it’s difficult to pick one specialty over the other… Maybe manipulating others is #1? Too many people still voted for Terry after learning about her evil-doings! How is that possible? Why are people not willing to accept the reality and see the Bernardos as they truly are?
5:40pm, Simple….they are worried about the 2nd amendment and believe that ALL Democrats just fall in line to the higher power (Cuomo and Obama) who want to take away their right to keep & bear arms. Hopefully, Lynn will prove them wrong.
But that would mean Terry could actually do something RE: the 2nd amendment when in reality it is a Federal and State issue. She “bought” votes with false promises!
6:33pm- I did not say I agreed, just giving an explanation as to why TB got as many votes as she did. I do agree with you about buying votes with false promises. Prime example is Obama and his affordable health care.
However, I also think that some politicians do use local politics as a stepping stone to higher office, which I believe was exactly Terry Bernardo’s plan.
However, TB is out and I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
6:33 pm – absolutely correct! Once the SAFE Act issue appeared, Bernardos jumped on it and tried to milk it for their benefit; it IS probably “the” explanation for her getting as many votes as she got. Back on January 19 – GUN DAY! – when the “Friends of the Constitution” was rushed into being at Skate Time 209, the purpose was to use the 2nd Amendment for recruiting an army of voters for Terry through misleading and mind manipulation.
UC GOP Chair Rascoe was heard saying that he doesn’t want the image of a gun on the “face” of the Republican party… exactly what Terry accomplished in her quest for power! Bernardo did a good job destroying what was left of the local Republican party.
Yes, destroying local GOP is a good reason to respect them! Since 2008 when Len popped up as the savior of the party, the GOP kept going down, down, down. With great help from that guy Ohalloran who knew who the Bernardos really are and stopped kissing butt only when he got a taste of his own medicine.
