It’s almost over, but for at least two years the Rainbow Diner site was a disgrace to our town and a visual insult to all those seeing it. Granted, a combination of environmental laws and local legal tangles slowed down the cleaning process, but Carl Chipman should have shown some leadership.
For less than one thousand dollars, an easy installation of weather-proof panels displaying drawings made by kids would have brought a smile from anyone driving by. Instead, for more than two years, Carl Chipman offered this to our town:
– Jon Dogar-Marinesco
Is leadership and common sense, synonymous?
If it’s not in the manual it’s not in Carl’s head, but unfortunately there is no page in there that refers to common sense.
Political astuteness is a measure of cunningness and jumping aboard every social engineering fad that passes is a sign of a groupie, not a reflection of leadership.
After the fire, Carl owed the town his energy of interest.
Who is cleaning up this mess?
Are there poisons diffusing into the air?
If he saw by the next day nothing being done, he should have immediately put out a call for six volunteers, instructed them to wear pants and long sleeve shirts, and the town would supply face-masks, dumpster, coffee and possibly a finishing celebration.
Instead, we got fed whines of court excuses.
Why, the property owner would of thought twice about any lawsuit and Albany would of given Carl a supervisor merit badge, yet all we got was an ugly health hazard to our eyes, ears, nose, and throat that lingered for years because Carl was afraid someone was going to hang him for doing the right thing.
There are no problems, only solutions, and those who parrot lawyers should live in birdcages, not in town halls.
There was no more Carl would do especially when his actions were exposed– upon an order by LB, Carl authorized town equipment and paid overtime to a town employee on the day of the fire instead of following protocol and calling a private contractor. ILLEGAL and so easy to prove…

So OVER the Rainbow and Carl Chipman’s self serving leadership. Calling all citizens to wake up and smell the stink of crooked town politics.
