Everybody Wants to Step in It

Richard T. Cahill Jr.

This is no laughing matter, as the persecution complex can strike anyone. Judging by this recent post on his blog, Richard T. Cahill Jr. may exhibit the symptoms:

Everybody Wants to Get Into the Act

Now another blog (Ulster Cloak Room) has decided to attack me. This blog –which is quite obviously an anonymous blog run by the same person as Smokeout– questions my ability as a lawyer. Here is his exact quote, “Lawyer Cahill is so inept at argumentation one wonders how he managed to pass the Bar Exam.”

Mr. Cahill, I can assure you of three things:
1. I’m not connected in any way with Ulster County Cloakroom blog
2. I have no idea who owns and writes that blog
3. I agree with everything said about you on said blog, including “Lawyer Cahill is so inept at argumentation one wonders how he managed to pass the Bar Exam.”

First, one does not “argue” in order to pass the New York State Bar Exam. If you had any idea what you are talking about, you would know that the Bar Exam has two parts: a multi-state portion and a New York State portion with multiple choice questions and essay questions. It is the most difficult professional examination in the world.

If you’re talking to me, yes, I have an idea about what you’re talking about. My sister-in-law told us quite a lot about her passing the Tennessee, New York and New Jersey Bar Exams. But I digress.

Nobody said that argumentation is part of the Bar Exam. Whoever he is, Cloakroom only said that given your ineptitude at argumentation – suggesting a defective thought process at the minimum – it’s surprising that you managed to pass the Bar Exam. Now I’m surprised too, seeing that your rebuttal rests upon a false premise. (Who is Cloakroom again?)

The fact that I passed the exam easily while your biggest accomplishment is that you managed to create a blog so that you can call people names in order to inflate your ego and continue stupid, personal, and petty feuds really shows the differences between us.

Are you talking to me? Are you talking to Cloakroom? Never mind, I’ll revisit this paragraph later in the year.

Finally, I did not “pick a fight” with you. I warned you not to drag me into your conflict. You refused to listen. Now, you are upset about my responses to your childish antics. Well, if you mess with the bull, you get the horns.

The problem with this heroic stance is that, after a while, it fizzles out. Again, are you talking to me or are you talking to Cloakroom? May I respectfully suggest that when you take precious time away from important slip and fall cases, at least make sure you know who you’re writing about?

Note to my best friend: Len Bernardo, you should be up in an hour or so. Would you mind writing a post about this post? In your unmistakable style? Starting with “we at Mocking Robin must really be getting under Jon’s skin?” Thank you!

Richard T. Cahill Jr. – A Useful Idiot?

PART ONE OF MANY

Richard T. Cahill Jr.

Richard T. Cahill Jr., before you get your panties in a bunch, read this:

In political jargon, useful idiot is a pejorative term used to describe people perceived as propagandists for a cause whose goals they do not understand, who are used cynically by the leaders of the cause. (WIKIPEDIA)

All others – I beg you! – read The Final Comment on the Manner.

Who wants to bet that Richard T. Cahill Jr. will be back with more “final” comments?

Cahillese – Strictly for Laughs

Dump Terry Bernardo

“If I had a nickel during my tenure as a prosecutor for every time a victim of domestic violence came to the office asking to drop charges, I would have retired 15 years ago.”
    – Richard T. Cahill Jr.

Just a quote out of context. Also out of math…

Let’s say somebody gave Rich a nickel every time a victim of domestic violence came to his office. Let’s say Rich saved the money and retired 15 years ago. Modest chap, a grand a month is all Rich needed.

A thousand dollars a month adds up to $12,000 a year. Multiply by 15 – the number of years he already spent in retirement – and this is the amount Rich needed: $180,000.

To save $180,000 Rich hoarded 3,600,000 nickels, one for each of the 3,600,000 victims of the domestic violence coming to his office, asking to drop charges (2010 Ulster County population: 182,493).

20 victims per hour, 8 hours a day, 365 days a year – that’s 58,400 nickels a year.

How long Rich’s tenure should have been in order for him to retire 15 years ago?
Divide 3,600,000 by 58,400. The result? 62 years… 8 hours a day, 365 days a year…

DISCLAIMER:
This is not an attack on Richard T. Cahill Jr., this is a war against clichés.

Richard T. Cahill Jr., are you nuts? (Part 2)

Richard T. Cahill Jr.

What you see above is Richard T. Cahill Jr.’s last whine: “Once again, Jon Dogar Marinesco has decided to attack me on his blog.”

This is getting old fast. Cahill attacks me and my wife, then points the finger at me when confronted with his deeds. That makes it hard to move the conversation forward. I suggest, in the future, instead of crying “Jon attacked me!” perhaps Cahill could reply by numbers. Pick a number, any number, and reply to the point.

1
Rich Cahill accused me of quoting him out of context. “A new blog has taken an old quote from my blog out of context and used it as part of an attack against another blogger.” Given enough rope, he finally agreed with me, kind of. “I do not deny writing that quote. It had to do with a bogus allegation being made against Nina Postupack… It is a different context, though not necessarily an improper use of the quote.

2
Rich Cahill insulted my wife by implying that “a bogus allegation being made against Nina Postupack” it’s “a different context” from a bogus allegation being made against Manuela Michailescu.

3
Rich Cahill insulted me and my wife on his blog via personally approved anonymous comments. Once you filter the comments, they are yours.

4
During all of the above, Rich Cahill kept saying “I do not want to be dragged in to a feud that I have nothing to do with.”

5
Let’s look together at my last post, or as they say in Cahillese, the attack.

It’s the headline “Richard T. Cahill Jr., are you nuts?” an attack? Not exactly, considering that I am being called nuts a number of times on his blog.

Please God, let this be an attack: “Blogger Richard T. Cahill Jr. continued to cry for attention.” Nope, it’s not, it’s the truth… How many times could you credibly say “Please keep me out of it” while injecting yourself into it?

Perhaps these are attacks: “So, Rich-the-pretty-boy-lawyer… has no problem approving Terry Bernardo’s lies and insults aimed at me and my wife” or “…ask Rich-the-pretty-boy-lawyer to show you where Terry Bernardo is compared to a Romanian dictator. Why is Rich-the-pretty-boy-lawyer spreading this bullshit? When did Richard T. Cahill Jr. become Blaber Light?”

6
Oh! I got it! Richard T. Cahill Jr. was insulted by my calling him Rich-the-pretty-boy-lawyer… I sincerely apologize. Let me explain… While working on his photo, my neighbor’s 3-year old niece saw it on the screen, pointed at it and said “pretty boy” a few times.

Pretty Boy Floyd

I laughed, I thought of Pretty Boy Floyd (above), I remembered John Steinbeck’s novel The Grapes of Wrath, where a character refers to Pretty Boy Floyd as a young man driven to a tragic fate by the Great Depression. I thought about Pretty Boy Cahill as a young man driven to a tragic fate by the Great Deception. I played with the name and came up with Rich-the-pretty-boy-lawyer. I never thought the name would inspire Mr. Cahill in making such a lame gay joke:

“However, this time he has given me a nickname. Apparently, he calls me ‘Pretty Boy Attorney’. I should be flattered, but I guess I should remind him that I am married to a beautiful woman.”

7
As I didn’t know a word of English before my 33rd birthday, I am always willing to learn from the natives. Today I’m thankful to Rich Cahill for teaching me that “remind” and “tell” are interchangeable. Oh, they are not? Thought so.

Richard T. Cahill Jr., are you nuts?

Richard T. Cahill Jr.

Prompted by Crispin Kott’s inept article on blogging – in which the words “Blaber” and “credibility” appear in the same sentence – I wrote Jeremy Blaber is a weasel, and so is Terry Bernardo, a post exposing the unhealthy relationship between Blaber and Bernardos, and the horrendous attack they jointly launched against me and my wife Manuela Michailescu (at the time a Town of Rochester Councilwoman running for Ulster County Legislature next to Terry Bernardo). In the post I quoted Rich Cahill, who chastised Blaber for a similar attack on County Clerk Nina Postupack.

Manuela Michailescu

Next day or so, a friend alerted me to Rich Cahill’s post:

A new blog has taken an old quote from my blog out of context and used it as part of an attack against another blogger… Please keep me out of it

I replied in self-defense, showing that 1) the quote was not taken out of context 2) I’m not attacking Blaber, I’m only exposing him for being a sneaky, untrustworthy and insincere person, in other words… a weasel.

Blogger Richard T. Cahill Jr. continued to cry for attention:

I see now that I am being insulted by the web page in question because I claimed my quote was taken out of context and that I did not want to be involved in the feud.

Allow me to clarify. The quote was originally about an “issue” raised by Blaber against Nina Postupack. I wrote the quote and stand by it.

The quote is being used to attack Jeremy Blaber and his skills as a blogger. It is a different context, though not necessarily an improper use of the quote.

My only point is that I do not want to be dragged in to a feud that I have nothing to do with. For that, now I am being blasted.

Well, I am a big boy. If people want to take their shots, go ahead. I asked nicely to be left out of it.

Blogger Cahill does not want to be dragged in to a feud, but he doesn’t mind diving in head first.

As opposed to this blog – where the comments are instantly published – on Cahill’s blog all comments must be approved by Cahill. Let’s look at a couple of approved comments…

    Anonymous said…

That jerk from Accord and his dipstick wife wanted a second chance when they went into bankruptcy and got hundreds of thousands in debts erased. They made their mistakes when they were alot older and supposedly more mature than Blaber. But Jeremy is supposed to suffer for a few things he wrote on his blog forever? Things which may even have been true?

These two mooks are the biggest hypocrites this county has ever seen.

I don’t like Blaber’s politics but he has alot more integrity than Tweedledee and Tweedledum put together. You go, Jeremy.

So, Rich-the-pretty-boy-lawyer is insulted when I show him the definition of “out of context,” but has no problem approving Terry Bernardo’s lies and insults aimed at me and my wife.

Rich, Just let it go. Those Rochester nuts will never stop. They are crazy, vicious, and obsessive…

They compared Terry Bernardo to a Romanian dictator who summarily executed people. Terry is not the best Chair of the Legislature. She is not a murderer like the Romanian dictator. To say that is just plain nuts…

Look below, then ask Rich-the-pretty-boy-lawyer to show you where Terry Bernardo is compared to a Romanian dictator. Why is Rich-the-pretty-boy-lawyer spreading this bullshit? When did Richard T. Cahill Jr. become Blaber Light?

Karen Binder, R.I.P.

Karen Binder

Karen Binder, Clerk of the Legislature, passed away this morning with her family by her side. Her passing is a tremendous loss for the Ulster County Legislature. Our hearts go out to Karen’s family and the countless friends she had in Ulster County. If love could have saved her, she would have lived forever. Rest in peace, Karen.
