Yes, you can fool some people all the time. Yes, Terry Bernardo should apologize to the people who publicly supported Terry the Candidate. And yes, those people should apologize to the rest of us, but don’t you hold your breath – promises of sharing in the potential Casino pie and free-passes to SkateTime 209 are hard to resist.
The organizational meeting for the 2013 Legislative year will be held tomorrow. Bribed with Len Bernardo’s endorsements of his make-believe Independence Party, the Legislators would “elect” again Len’s wife as their “leader,” permanently smearing their legacies with Terry Bernardo’s dirty fingerprints.
Anybody wants to bet on the results of November 2013 elections?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
MUCH GOOD HEALTH AND HAPPINESS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
As we start 2013 I want to share with you a very deep concern. It is the troublesome and toxic legacy we are leaving our children and grandchildren.
Current US debt – $16,352,483,065,338.00
An incomprehensible number!
An abstraction to most of us – it causes our eyes to glaze over – so let’s put this into a more understandable amount:
US debt owed by each – man, woman and child – $52,000.00
Plus
NYS debt for each – man, woman and child – $16,000.00
And this doesn’t take into account the $122,000,000,000,000.00 of unfunded liabilities lurking in the shadows !!!!
Some day, some how, this debt will have to be paid back – it can’t be kicked down the road forever.
My New Year’s wish is that in 2013 our county starts down the long – and very, very painful – road to solving this potential catastrophe.

My previous post established beyond doubt that Steven Fornal is a liar. While he likes to parrot himself by repeating his own cock-and-bull stories, Steven Fornal excels at repeating lies about Manuela Michailescu:
[Manuela Michailescu and her husband]… “failed to pay the IRS. They failed to pay their school taxes.”
100% pure Fornal bull. Please check again the Final Report issued by the Trustee, and see for yourself that IRS and Rondout Valley School District didn’t make any claims. Because we never owed a penny in back taxes.
At the first meeting, the bankruptcy lawyer asked for a complete list of our pecuniary obligations at that moment in time (October 2008). Of course, the taxes due were listed (actually, the amount due to IRS was a penalty tax for early withdrawal from Manuela’s IRA). For all his pretension, I expected Fornal to grasp the difference between due and overdue.
Now, in Fornal’s defense, he is not creative enough to cook a whopper from scratch. He peeked at our filing papers, and tailored the lie to order. I hope he got a free pass at Len and Terry Bernardo’s Skate Time 209.

Now Jon, why involve Steve in your vendetta against the Bernardos. He’s not involved and you just are upset because he wrote a letter in support of Terry. His only offense is stating his opinion. My dear Anonymous, I admire the civil tone of your comment, but let’s agree to disagree. Your wrote that Fornal’s “only offense is stating his opinion.” Wrong. Fornal’s ofense is not stating an opinion. Fornal’s ofense is lying.
For almost six years now, Steven L. Fornal is spreading lies about Manuela Michailescu. He knows why he is doing it, and so do I. In due time you’ll know too.
The fact that Manuela and I went through a bankruptcy is a matter of public record. Thanks to David O’Halloran and the Bernardos, it also became a matter of ignorant gossip. It took us, our lawyer, the judge, and the bankruptcy trustees almost three years to sort out the intricacies of the case. It took Steven Fornal five minutes to start dispensing his uneducated opinion.
From papers peddled by Terry Bernardo, Fornal glimpsed the liabilities, but failed to register a defining detail: ours was an ASSET case. Like a broken record unaware of the digital age, Fornal keeps repeating, repeating, repeating the same outrageous lies:
Three dozen? Maxed out? Million dollars?
Please check the Final Report issued by the Trustee, and see for yourself the list of 24 credit cards (issued to 2 people and 2 corporations). Fornal added another dozen… Fair, right? Just stating his “opinion…”
Check the total of legitimate claims: $259,310 (25% of the million invented by Fornal!)
Now check the Chapter 7 Closing Report in an Asset Case: Our assets were sold for $304,069.
That’s exactly $45,000 more than $259,310, the total amount of legitimate claims. According to the Department of Justice, in most Chapter 7 cases the average cents on the dollar is somewhere around zero. Don’t be too harsh on Steven Fornal for not mentioning any of this – neither does Richard Cahill Jr. and he calls himself a lawyer, for crying out loud.

Stop the shams or the party dies? From what I see in Ulster County, I’d say the party dies. Thanks to State Senator John Bonacic and Mario Catalano (back then County GOP Chair), the “Independence Party Chairman” Len Bernardo caused havoc in Ulster County politics.
At one time an enabler himself, former County Democratic Chair Julian Schreibman understood too late that “the whole Indy movement was about making Terry chairman” (Indy Rising by Hugh Reynolds, New Paltz Times, December 8, 2011, page 6).
Mario Catalano – shame on him! – knew it from the get-go. Look at these two emails sent by him to Rochester and Wawarsing Republican Committee Chairs:

“Terry Bernardo needs to be one of them. The Chairman of the Independence Party would like his wife to win as a Republican and I EXPECT you to honor that request! The implications for us countywide should not have to be explained to you, but I would be happy to meet with you at any time and DRAW YOU A PICTURE, in the event you don’t get it.”
The reorganizational meeting for the coming Legislative year will be held on January 2.
I urge the Legislators to stand up like responsible elected officials and do the right thing: send Terry Bernardo packing.
